Paper Piecing Tips

1.  If you use regular printer paper for foundation piecing and find it a little harder to take it off the block when you are done. Try this.... Get a small bowl or a cup and put a little water in it. Then get a q-tip and dip it in the water and dap some water on the stitches on the paper and it will soften it so it makes it much easir to carefully take off that paper. And it doesn't pull on the threads. This is a great way to test color to see if it runs. Just sew two scraps together as if making a block a light and a dark color and then do the q-tip trick and if the color runs, you will know it right away. Then you will know not to use the running color in your quilt. This trick is great for those little tiny pieces of paper you have to take off. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay (QB - Bobbinchick)

2.  Use smaller stitch lengths

Chart for Cathedral Windows (different sizes)

Cutting the Squares

To decide on the size to cut for your background block you need to multiply the finished size desired by 2 and then add 1/2" for your seam allowance. In the following table there are some measurements that could be helpful to begin:

Easy Binding Method

Saying

There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good. So, love the people who treat you right. Think good thoughts for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of LIFE...Getting back up is LIVING...

YESTERDAY is already a memory. TOMORROW is only a vision. TODAY, well lived, makes EVERY yesterday a memory of happiness and EVERY tomorrow a vision of hope! Don't let ANYTHING get to you today! It's ONLY life..live it like nobody is watching!

Poem for pillowcases

lots of people are making pillowcases for Christmas. If any of you are making some for children, here is a cute poem that can be pinned to the pillowcase and given to them BEFORE Dec. 1.

December the first starts a magical time,
With all sorts of colors, ribbons, and rhyme...
Sugar plum fairies will dance in your head....
If you put this special pillowcase on your bed.
The reason its special, as you will soon see
Is that it's been dusted with Christmas Fancy!
Visions of candy canes, Santa and treasures
Will fill each dream with sweetness and pleasures.
When the time comes for it to be washed
Do it quickly so no magic is lost.

Quilt Sayings and Dedications

Quilt Poems (Ideas for Quilt Labels)

It's not Christmas, nor is it your birthday.
I was thinking of you as I do everyday.
I found this fabric and without delay,
I made you this gift you can open today.
Who needs a reason?
I just want to say enjoy this gift on this un-holiday

Quilt Poems (Ideas for Quilt Labels)

This quilt is made of cloth and thread
To place upon your little bed
It’s not an heirloom just to keep
But to lie upon as you count sheep
Or perhaps the floor’s the perfect place
For a doll and teddy bear picnic space.
This quilt can be anything you dream
From superman’s cape to the robe of a queen.
Pretend it’s a raft adrift at sea
Or just cuddle up when you watch TV
So use it up and wear it out
I promise I won’t yell or pout
Just tell me when its days are through
And I’ll make another just for you.
